Make your PAX look built-in.
Tell us your wall. We'll show the PAX frames that fit, and the fillers, plinth and top panel that take them wall to wall and floor to ceiling, with every size.
- Works with IKEA's real frame sizes
- Every filler and panel sized, in mm or inches
- Made by a London fitted-wardrobe carpenter
Your wall
Measure at the top, middle and bottom, and use the smallest. Walls are rarely straight.
60 mm hides the feet and clears most skirting (baseboard). 0 = frames on the floor.
Tip: Take the skirting (baseboard) off the back wall so the frames sit tight against it.
Questions
How do I make IKEA PAX look built-in?
Fill the gaps. A filler at each wall, scribed to the wall, closes the sides. A plinth under the frames hides the feet, and a top panel closes the gap to the ceiling. Doors up to the ceiling finish it off.
What size are PAX frames really?
They're sold as 50, 75 and 100 cm wide (19 5/8", 29 1/2" and 39 1/4" in the US), but measure 49.8, 74.8 and 99.8 cm. The tall frame is 236.4 cm (93 1/8") high and the short one 201.2 cm (79 1/4"), both 58 cm (22 7/8") deep, or 35 cm (13 3/4"). The planner uses the real sizes, in millimetres or inches.
How wide should the fillers be?
At least 20 mm (3/4"), so you can scribe them to the wall, and ideally under 150 mm (6"). The planner picks the frames that leave the neatest fillers.
Can I use my IKEA design?
Yes. Pick "Set my own frames" and put in the same frames as your IKEA plan. The planner works out the fillers, plinth and top panel around them.
