Do it here, step by step

The model is ready below, with SketchUp's own tools and keys. Watch a step beside it, then do it in the model: each step ticks itself, and Check my work measures every board to the millimetre. No download, no account.

Follows the model you're drawing: each step ticks itself once it's done.

You should see: The box with its back, plinth and shelves.

  2. RectangleR On the front of the box, click the bottom-left corner of the bottom board, where it meets the plinth. Move right and up, type 496,1997 Enter. Push/PullP Pull it towards you and type 18 Enter. SelectSpace Triple-click it, press G and name it Door.

You should see: A door from the bottom of the box to 3 under the top, flush with the left end.

  3. MoveM Click its corner, move right, press → for the red axis and type 2 Enter.

You should see: A 2 mm gap at the left end.

  4. MoveM With the door selected, tap Ctrl (Option on a Mac) to copy, click its corner, move right with → for the red axis and type 500 Enter.

What you draw

  • Left door1997 × 496 × 18

    Why that size: 2000 box − 3 under the top = 1997 high; 1000 ÷ 2 − 4 = 496 wide.

Where it goes: In front of the box, its bottom level with the bottom of the box, 2 in from the left end.

  • Right door1997 × 496 × 18

Why that size: The same as the left door: 1997 × 496.

Where it goes: In front of the box, 4 to the right of the left door, 2 in from the right end.

Stuck? A hint

Each door is 1000 ÷ 2 − 4 = 496 wide: 2 at the outside edge, 2 of the 4 between them. It's 2000 − 3 = 1997 high: flush with the bottom of the box, 3 under the top.

What Check my work looks at

  • Each board is its own component, not a group or loose faces.
  • Each board is the size CabinetOS would cut it, to 1 mm.
  • Each board is in its place, to 1 mm.
  • Nothing missing, nothing extra.

When something's wrong it says which board and why, for example that a board is 21 thick instead of 18, or 3 mm too far left. Show it selects that board in your model.
